With the assistance of ECOWEB through the Formation of Production Guilds and Social Enterprise for Economic Development in Indigenous Communities (FPG-SEEDIC) Project being funded by Bread, The Higaunon Abaca Farming Families living within the Bayug-Iligan Ancestral Domain, are able to strengthen their practice of Hunglos. Hunglos or Bayanihan in Tagalog or means community self-help enabled the IP farmers to expand the Abaca Farms despite the lack of capital.

Drying coffee beans is one of the bigger challenges that farmers are faced with especially in the mountains as it almost always rains in the afternoon.  Bote Central not only pays a fair price but also educates and assists the farmers improve the quality of beans.

Bote Central is focused on the joint production and consumption program of Philippine coffee, rationalizing the supply chain and embedding Fair Trade principles to promote the Philippine coffee industry’s sustainability.

Coffee for Peace promotes the culture of peace in our conflicted land. We use coffee as a vehicle for our Peace messages that help our marginalized coffee farming communities restore their dignity by having a fair share of income more than living allowance. This gives the farmer an opportunity to live harmoniously with others, provide good food, education, and health care for their family, as they get to become entrepreneurs also.
